Frequently Asked Questions
How much will my visit cost?
When filing with insurance, if you have a specialist copay, we will collect this at the end of your visit. If you have a high deductible plan, we will collect a minimum of $100 then bill your insurance. You may owe more or less depending on your contract with your insurance plan. We also offer self pay rates as well for those without insurance. Please call or text our office at 919-283-1099 for those rates.
Why do I need to have a credit card on file?
We require a credit card on file in the event we need to reimburse you. This may then be done in a timely manner for our patients. In the event that you owe anything additional, you will always receive a statement by mail with an additional 30 day time frame to make a payment. Your credit card on file will not be charged until we notify you after that time period.
What are your policies with rescheduling and cancelations?
We require a 48 hour notice of any appointments needing to be rescheduled and/or cancelled. If these are made within a 48 hour time frame, there will be a $50 fee added to your account. Please refer to our Scheduling & Office Policies section of our website for more information.
Are there any hidden fees after my visit?
There are some plans with a high deductible, and you may end up owing more than the amount collected at your visit. In the case that we are out of network with your specific plan or a referral was needed and one was not sent, you may owe the entire billed amount. We always recommend checking with your insurance before your visit. Cosmetic services would also be an out of pocket price if a patient chooses to do any during their medical appointment.
Do you see Infants and toddlers?
Yes, we see patients of all ages including children. Many parents and guardians have their children see a pediatrician regularly, but in the event you would like to be seen by a dermatologist for skin concerns, we are happy to evaluate them and address these concerns.
I want my 16/17 year old to be seen alone, is this allowed?
We can see a minor alone as long as we have a parent/legal guardian signed consent on file. This form - Consent for Treatment of Minors- can de downloaded from our website HERE and then signed and brought in the day of their appointment.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, we do offer payment plans. If you are unable to pay your bill, we can set up a monthly amount to be charged to your credit card on file until the invoice is paid in full.
I have a question about an invoice I received. Who do I contact?
You may contact our billing department at 844-266-6366. If your question is related to why your insurance plan did not cover something specific, the billing department may have you contact your insurance company directly.
Do you take Care Credit?
No we do not take care credit at this time, but please refer to the answer on another FAQ regarding our payment plan option.
Do you offer Laser treatments?
We do not currently offer laser treatments. If this is something your provider thinks will be beneficial, we will refer you to a preferred esthetics office for continued treatment.
Do you offer injections for hyperhidrosis?
We offer injections for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) as a cosmetic service only. This would be entirely out of pocket at the time of your appointment and your insurance will not be billed.
Do you offer injections for migraines?
We do offer muscle relaxer injectables for cosmetic purposes to help in reducing fine lines and wrinkles. However, we do not offer injections for the treatment of migraines. We would be happy to recommend a provider nearby that offers muscle relaxer injections to treat migraines.
What kind of chemical peels do you offer?
We offer a wide variety of chemical peels to fit everyone’s skin care types and needs. Please visit our Cosmetic Services section of the website to get detailed explanation of each peel. Your medical assistant may also suggest one at your visit to help with correcting any of your skin concerns.
When will I get my biopsy results?
Our office receives results as they are assessed by a dermatopathologist at an outside lab. Your provider will review your results and the medical assistant will call you with your results. This process typically takes between 1-2 weeks. Benign results are also posted in your patient portal after being reviewed by your provider.
I am pregnant, is it safe for me to have a lidocaine injection for a biopsy?
Yes, a lidocaine injection is considered safe during pregnancy. Please let your medical assistant and provider know at the start of your visit that you are pregnant so we can properly document your medical history. If a lidocaine injection is needed during your visit, it will not contain the additional ingredient of epinephrine. The provider will be happy to answer any of your questions during your visit and discuss the safety of lidocaine injections for pregnant women.
My prescription is not working, what should I do?
In the event that your treatment plan is not currently working in the amount of time your provider designated for you, please let our office know. There may be changes that can be made. If you are not currently scheduled for a follow up, your provider or nurse may encourage you to do so. This is the best method for continued care to treat your condition.
What is going to be the cost of my prescription medication?
Unfortunately, this is not information we are able to provide. Prescription coverage varies between every patient, so it is recommended to follow up with your preferred pharmacy for individual pricing. Of course, we are always willing to discuss different treatment options that may be more cost effective without cutting back on your own personal treatment. We do have alternate pharmacies that sometimes have lower out of pocket prices. We are always willing to direct you to one of these if needed.
